What is Tee Talk?  Tee Talk is actually the result of receiving a very touching anecdote from a Fourth Tee reader which demonstrated that this type of entry needed its own category.

Was That A Roar, or a Purr?

On Sunday, December 5th, in a nail-biting finish, we watched Tiger lose the Chevron World Challenge in the playoff against Graeme McDowell, ending 2010 with no wins.  But what a finish that was!  Graeme no doubt earned his win and The Fourth Tee congratulates Graeme for a game well played.

However, the burning question on everyone’s mind is:  “Is Tiger Back?”  In fact, The Fourth Tee wonders whether we just heard Tiger’s familiar roar or whether it was just a useless purr.

To repeat a quote attributed to teaching professional Jim Flick:  “Golf is 90 percent mental. The other 10 percent is mental.”

We all know that 2010 was a year of disastrous consequences for Tiger.  His mental game was sidelined by the magnitude of the troubles in his personal life.  However, with 2010 behind him and his personal troubles “resolved,” The Fourth Tee believes that Tiger’s legendary mental game will come back with a vengeance.  Sure, there is the issue of him re-tooling his swing.  But a swing without a mental game is no game at all.

So, was that finish a roar or a purr?

The Fourth Tee is of the opinion that it was the beginning of a roar and that Tiger will finish 2011 with several wins tucked securely in his golf bag.
